Chasing the Muses

Where are we going today?

The Search

The drive, the need …
Unrelenting, intense, compelling.
Yet the prize so often
Distant, absent, removed.

Searching, seeking, desiring …

Sipping strong drink,
Revealing bare knee.
Lonely ride home.

Mindlessly tapping keys
Sharing name, age, location.
Meet, match, marry?

Meeting friend of a friend
Preening, trembling, hoping.
Goodnight and close the door.

Tired, drained, defeated.

Cuddling on the couch,
Savoring warmth and fur and
Licks and wagging tail.
Giving up the search …

At least for now.

I invite you to visit one or both and let me know what you think.

  1. I have found no matter what a four legged friend is a true friend to have. You seem to have put my entire young adult life experience into this work. Reading this great work I was reminded of myself at 19 -21 years old. It shows the anguish and the process of young adult dating so well. Thanks. Hugs
